IB is a very challenging and time-demanding program. One of the reasons is the amount of additional written assignments IB DP students need to complete to attain their IB Diploma. Among the written assignments IB DP students need to write a 1600 words TOK essay, 2200 words Internal Assessment (IA) (for group 4 it must be a 6-12 pages long document) for every subject, and 4000 words Extended Essay in a selected subject.
IB written assignments are not only assessed based on the knowledge of the subject and the use of that knowledge. Students are also graded based on how well the essays are written and structured, how well they managed to communicate and convey the information and present their own personal reflections and engagement.
